HOMEGROWN LOCAL ORGANIC VEGETARIAN FOOD

Our outstanding vegetarian/vegan breakfasts feature healthful, seasonal local foods. Our "Organic Breakfast Basket" comes with organic homemade yogurt or smoothie, homemade organic jams and preserves, freshly baked organic wholegrain breads, muffins or granola, and seasonal fresh fruit. Loose-leaf herbal tea is picked from our herb gardens and Fair Trade organic coffee is always available for you to brew yourself in the B&B space. Whenever possible, we try to incorporate homegrown offerings from our gardens, or fresh sprouts from our greenhouse. Any food wastes are given to our chickens, or composted for use in our gardens.

NATURAL LINENS & CHEMICAL-FREE HOUSE
Our B&B is chemically scent-free. We use only biodegradable and environmentally friendly products for our cleaning supplies, laundry detergents, soaps and shampoos. Paints and finishes are natural clay, or no-VOC, and bedding and towels are made from natural and organic materials. Bedding and towels are made of natural fibres including organic cotton, wool and hemp. All linens are washed in biodegradeable detergents, and hung out in the sun to dry. They smell fresh and wonderful!

POWERED BY 100% GREEN RENEWABLE ENERGY
Since 2009 our B&B has been run completely on renewable energy by powering our home with green electricity through Bullfrog Power. We try to minimize our energy consumption so do NOT have an in-house air conditioning system - however the house stays cool and comfortable with large trees offering shade and open windows for fresh air breezes.

AMAZINGLY CONVENIENT LOCATION
We are in walking distance of the VIA train station and new transit hub (to be), close to bus routes, and conveniently located RIGHT NEXT to the new Spurline Trail, within easy walking distance of both uptown Waterloo and downtown Kitchener, while still maintaining a feeling of peacefulness and seclusion.

SMALL IS BEAUTIFUL
Little City Farm Eco Bed & Breakfast is a modest homestead where we demonstrate that small can be beautiful and plentiful. Come experience for yourself what a sustainable urban homestead can look like. We look forward to meeting you!

A Brief History of the House at 508 Duke St W

Our house was built around 1890. We believe it was built by the first owner, who we learned was a carpenter, and is of simple, modest construction. There have only been a handful of owners during the history of this home. We have lived here since 1999, and interestingly, like the first owner 100 years before us, Greg is also a carpenter. We liked the classic yellow brick of the original house, and have built an addition in 2008 which we made of natural strawbale materials - also simple, modest, honest construction built with our own hands. In 2014-2015 we renovated the old driveshed ("the barn") in the backyard to create our Little City Farm greenhouse, store and studio.
