WALDORF-INSPIRED ART CLASSES THIS SPRING 2017!

Inspiring beauty, appreciation of nature, mindfulness and mentorship in our children. Classes taught by Theresa Hanley and Karin Kliewer, at Little City Farm in Kitchener.

About the instructors:

Theresa Hanley has many years of experience facilitating art and craft classes for both children and adults. Inspired by the Waldorf approach to education and having raised her, now grown, son in a Waldorf inspired home, as well as homeschooling him with a Waldorf/Simplicity approach. She has also taken art facilitators workshops at the Toronto Waldorf School. Theresa is currently a homeschooling parent based in Kitchener.

Karin Kliewer gained experience in grassroots education from more than a decade of working with non-profits, co-ops, volunteers, and local community development initiatives. In 2007 she established Little City Farm as a hands-on eco learning centre and urban homestead in Kitchener. Karin is a local homeschooling parent of two, and uses a Waldorf-inspired approach of mindful, hands-on, heart-felt, nature-based living & learning with her family.

WALDORF-INSPIRED ART CLASSES - SPRING 2017

This Spring 2017 we are offering three different series of Waldorf-style art classes

to inspire beauty, connection to nature, mindfulness and mentorship
in our children

Please note these are drop-off classes. We don't have space in our teaching studio to accommodate parents with their children for these art classes. Please contact Karin if you have any questions.

YOUNG ACORNS ART CLASSES - FAIRY TALE PUPPETS

Ages: for ages 4-6
When: Thursdays from 1-2 pm
Dates: April 20 to June 8, 2017 (8 weeks)
Cost: $12/per class (= $96 + HST)
Location: Little City Farm, 508 Duke St W, Kitchener
Facilitators: Theresa Hanley & Karin Kliewer

Geared toward the development stages of ages 4-6, these Waldorf-inspired art classes will inspire beauty, love of naure, mindfulness, cooperation, creativity and joy in your child. This series will focus on crafting a fairy puppet set for each child, based on a classic fairy tale. Using natural materials and Waldorf-school high quality art supplies, we will teach hands-on skills such as sewing, felting wool, drawing and painting to create our puppet sets. Each class will include a story to coordinate with our artform for the day, plus the fairy tale puppet set to take home on the final day.

GREEN SAPLINGS ART CLASSES - FAIRY PUPPET THEATRE PRODUCTION!

Ages: for ages 7-12
When: Thursdays from 2:30-4 pm
Dates: April 20 to June 8, 2017 (8 weeks)
Cost: $16/per class (= $128 + HST)
Location: Little City Farm, 508 Duke St W, Kitchener
Facilitators: Theresa Hanley & Karin Kliewer

For creative minds and inspired imaginations! Geared toward the development stages of ages 7-12, these Waldorf-inspired art classes will inspire beauty, love of naure, mindfulness, cooperation, creativity and joy in your child. In this fairy tale puppet series we will use natural materials and Waldorf-style quality art supplies to create a puppet production from start to finish. The children will work together to make puppets, read classic fables and fairy tales, develop a script, build small sets, create invitations, make food for the final production, and of course present the puppet play to friends and family. Throughout the puppet series we will teach hands-on skills such as felting wool, natural dyes, hand-sewing, painting, drawing, and more. The puppet production will be presented on the final day.

WILD OAKS ART CLASSES
USING ART TO EXPLORE BEAUTY, NATURE, MENTORSHIP & MINDFUL PARENTING IN OUR HOMES


Ages: for adults (ideal for homeschooling parents, or adults with elementary-aged children in their lives)
When: Wednesday evenings from 6-7:30 pm
Dates: April 6 to May 10, 2017 (6 weeks)
Cost: $20/per class ($120 total + HST)
Location: Little City Farm, 508 Duke St W, Kitchener
Facilitators: Theresa Hanley

For parents who want to build more beauty, nature, mindfulness, non-violent communication, gentle parenting, and mentorship skills into their lives. This exciting series of 6 classes is for homeschooling parents or other adults who want to explore what a Waldorf-style approach to their children's learning and family life means. We will be talking about the various developmental stages of children, using stories and fables to teach about art, colour and life. These classes will give parents ideas for inspiring the child's inner artist, based on their skillset, age and development stage. We will work with watercolour painting, sketching, felting wool and more, to broaden skills for teaching these artforms to our children at home. More details at time of registration.
